September News!
Autumn is my favorite time of year... colorful leaves, crisp weather, pumpkin spice lattes, pies of all sorts, scarves, school supplies, slowing down. There's also a beauty to the decay that Autumn brings... in the same way I often add a bit of darkness to even my most uplifting songs, I find so much comfort in knowing that autumn's fading means that life goes on. Seasonal cycles will always move and change without my participation. Days shorten, flowers wilt, warmth ends, and that peak of darkness becomes a time for me to pause, reflect, turn inward, and be grateful. Everything dies, and I find great freedom in that. It reminds me to try to make the very best of every moment I have.
Fall is also the season for the annual Writers in the Round Songwriting Retreat on Star Island, NH. This will be my third year attending, and I couldn't be more ready to return. New songs, dear friends, and wide open swaths of sea await!
Before I disembark from the mainland, I'm honored to be opening for my dear friend Guy Capecelatro III's album release show at the Music Hall Loft in Portsmouth tomorrow, Wednesday, September 5th. His new album "Splintering" speaks of his life after the passing of his longtime partner, and my friend, Pam. He also recently released a compilation in her honor called "Songs for Pam" by various artists, to which I am a proud contributor... hear my track below! It's sure to be an uplifting and healing evening of music, so come prepared to feel out loud. Plus, read this gorgeous interview with him about the album and the show, here.

When I return from the retreat on Star Island, I'll continue my three-month residency at C'Mon Everybody on Sunday, September 16th. It will be the second of three shows with an all-female lineup of opening artists curated to highlight different genres within my musical catalog. We'll celebrate Sultry Songstress Night and plug into the more intimate numbers of my repertoire with lovely openers Aviva Jaye and Miwa Gemini.
